As I eagerly awaited the release Seattle's James Carr Band's most recent slice of roots rock pie, I was totally pleased with the warmth and vibe of this new track; "Summer." It feels a little like it lands somewhere in between Tom Petty, Skynyrd and Boston.

Kicking off with a great little riff that recurs in the chorus, James vocals chime in with familiar themes of nostalgia, loss and an overall great sound. Verses and choruses cruise by comfortably and the hook on the chorus is clear and undeniable. The background vocals bring a nice curtain of sound into the mix. This band is tight, together and definitely going places. Their recordings are a display of concrete confidence. One after another.

The bridge hits hard with some 8th note shots, back into the riff and then into another sweet guitar solo. The guitar melody soars about, then cascades into some shredding16th note patterns which in turn coalaesce into a dual harmony guitar lead out - awesome stuff!

The chorus brings us out (who can argue with hollering "I'm so in love with you?") before the band hits a litte stop, injects a wee bit of drum fill tomfoolery, then back to the vocals to carry things away.

Yet another solid heaping of roots rock indie perfection! Check it out here and consider supporting this wicked band.
