Shane Larmand and Raven Season Quick Bio
Shane Larmand and Raven Season is an Americana/Alt-Country trio, featuring shadowy blue songs of prairie anxiety and mountain love. This campfire tapestry of crackling wood, wire and crooning calls is an enticing mixture of the classic sound of experienced musicians with the fresh tones of artists embarking in a creative new direction.
The lineup features Shane Larmand on Acoustic Guitar and lead vocals. Shane is the primary songwriter with years of experience in bands such as The Fire Seeds, Another Midnight Revival and Super G70. During his time playing with this variety of bands on different instruments, Shane kept writing the songs that are now emerging in this new incarnation. Shane’s playing style is a percussive, finger-picking hybrid with touches of his drumming and bass-playing past and vocally he has drawn comparisons to the likes of John Fogerty, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Randy Padlesky plays a curious sort of percussion kit that features Djembe, shakers, cowbell and more. Randy has over 25 years of experience playing in a variety of Alberta-based rock and jazz bands such as Cold Front, The Villa Trio and Cold Tie Walker. Randy sings background vocals as well, but when he steps up to the lead vocal microphone, he has been compared favourably to Mick Jagger or Bob Dylan. Kevan Vachon is a diverse musician of Metis heritage who spent the majority of his music career performing solo with his guitar and loop pedal. He has brought his injection of melodic banjo playing and soulful vocals in the style of John Mayer to the fold. Together, these three have crafted a distinctive sound that is unique and tantalizing, yet hearkens to the sound of the likes of The Lumineers, Neil Young, Eagles, and The Dead South.
Shane’s lyrics are introspective and often delve into themes such as love, society and the artist’s battles with an anxiety disorder. He hopes fans can relate to some of the darker themes he explores in order to shine a little light on some of their own struggles. He is also a professional artist and teacher whose pristine, naturalist art is present in all merchandise and stage décor. Together with their unique sound you will see how a Shane Larmand and Raven Season show is a riveting synthesis of line, lyric, passion and presence.
