I'm super excited and stoked to review the latest release from my pals in Silverbird - a great little folk rock band from Germany!
"All I Know" is an upbeat acoustic rocker that begins with some interesting mandolin picking. The vocal comes in strong and the melody is infectious. There's a really nice, calm flow to this tune that's easy on the ears. The chorus has a really hopeful, uplifting feel and the melody is super catchy. Lyrically, the song presents that idea that everyone wants to "be" somebody; someone respected and essential, who will be remembered. I'm sure many people can relate to wanting to leave a legacy in our short time here on earth.
The solo section is melodic and short and sweet. These guys don't get caught up in hubris and long winded guitar solos; they let the song rule and that's how it ought to be. there's cool shots from the band wound into the solo and its a short and sweet little section. Harmony vocals close things out and at the very end a fun little ditty on the mandolin ends a great folk rock track.
